Home Remodeling in Tallmadge, OH
Kitchens, bathrooms, basements and custom carpentry, built by the crew that calls Tallmadge home.
Tallmadge is home base for Barnes Sklare Remodeling. Chuck Sklare and Chris Barnes have run the company since 2014, and we work all over town, from the older streets near the Circle to the newer subdivisions.
We take on the whole project with one crew: the planning, the demolition, the framing, the tile, the cabinetry and the finish carpentry. You deal with the same people from the first walkthrough to the last.

Remodeling a Tallmadge home
A lot of Tallmadge housing is ranches, split levels and two story homes built over the last several decades, plus newer streets with larger floor plans. The older homes tend to have smaller bathrooms and closed off kitchens. The newer ones often have a basement the builder left unfinished, which is the cheapest square footage you will ever add.
Northeast Ohio winters are hard on a house. Freeze and thaw cycles, wet springs and humid summers mean a basement finish should start with a dry foundation wall and good airflow, and a bathroom needs proper waterproofing behind the tile, not just grout.
If you are not sure where to start, the estimate visit is the place to sort it out. We walk the house with you, talk through what you want to change first and put a line item price on each part, so you can decide what to do now and what can wait for a later phase.

Tallmadge remodeling questions
Are you actually based in Tallmadge?
Yes. Tallmadge is where Barnes Sklare Remodeling is based, so a job in town is close to home for our crew. Call (330) 310-2605 and we will set up a time to come look at your project.
Can you finish the basement in a split level or ranch?
Yes. Split level lower levels and full ranch basements both make good living space. We look at ceiling height, where the mechanicals sit and how the stairs land, then plan the room around that.
How does an estimate work for a Tallmadge project?
We come to your house, walk the space, listen to what you want and put together a line item quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
